List of materials is as follows:
Alginate
Water
Bark
Disposable plastic cups
Popsicle sticks
Food scale
Nitrile gloves, or any disposable gloves
Brush
Liquid latex
Isopropyl alcohol (91%) preferred
Nerves of steel
SAFETY IS THE NUMBER ONE PRIORITY, PLEASE WEAR THE GLOVES EVEN THOUGH NOTHING IN THIS PROJECT MAY BURN YOUR SKIN IT IS ALWAYS BEST TO USE PROPER PRECAUTIONS.
Step one: Gather materials listed above
Step two: turn on food scale and place a cup onto the scale then tare ( the tare function zeros out the scale and allows for a more accurate measurement)
Step three: measure out water and alginate separately to the weights indicated on your alginate package.
Step four: using the Popsicle sticks mix as directed.
Step five: cover your bark with the thoroughly mixed alginate and allow to to cure.
Step six: slowly peel the edges of your cured alginate from the bark then continue to remove slowly.
Step seven: shake the hell out of your liquid latex then pour into a disposable cup and brush the first coat onto the mold and allow to cure before applying four more coats, allowing for full dry between coats.
Step eight: remove the latex cast from the mold and rejoice with your nerves of steel.
